Basic epidemiology and biostatistics topics are introduced to year 1 pre-clinical students through lectures, computer-assisted learning and seminars. The topics under epidemiology include basic epidemiological concepts, principle of disease prevention and control and descriptive epidemiology; whilst for biostatistics topics are introduction of biostatistics until sampling methods.​



Epidemiology and disease prevention of specific diseases or health conditions are also taught during this year in accordance to the respective system i.e. musculoskeletal, respiratory and gastrointestinal systems.



Students are also introduced to SPSS software for statistical analysis.
